PURPOSE:To provide an aqueous polishing agent capable of affording floorings, furniture, etc. with gloss for a long period, containing a water-dispersible silicone-modified vinyl polymer prepared by reaction between a specific water- dispersible vinyl polymer and organopolysiloxane. CONSTITUTION:The objective polishing agent containing a water-dispersible silicone-modified vinyl polymer prepared by reaction between (A) 100pts. by wt. of a water-dispersible vinyl polymer prepared from (i) 0.1-40wt% of an organosilicon monomer having in the molecule at least one polymerizable unsaturated group and at lest one hydrolyzable group directly bonded to silicon atom, (ii) 0.1-20wt% of a polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid and (iii) 40-99.8wt% of another polymerizable unsaturated monomer and (B) 0.2-1,000pts. by wt. of an organosiloxane having in the molecule at least one silicon atom with the average composition formula represented by the formula (R is 1-10C hydrocarbon; 0.2<=a<=2.5, 0.0005<=b<=1.0, 0.1<=a+b<=3.0).
