PURPOSE:To prolong the life of the titled apparatus by preventing the seizure between a member to be inspected and a magnetic pole surface, by providing a transmitting- receiving coil to an iron core equipped with the magnetic pole surface and forming a hardened layer to the magnetic pole surface. CONSTITUTION:A piercing hole 12 is formed in an iron core 11 and a DC exciting coil 14, and a transmitting-receiving coil 15 are arranged to the groove part of said iron core 11. Further a magnetic pole is formed corresponding to the transmitting- receiving coil 15 and guides 18B are respectively provided to the feed-in and feed-out ends of the iron core 11. First and second hardened layers 25, 26 are provided to the inner surface of the piercing hole 12 and a descaler 20 is provided to the feed-in end of the iron core 11 and a nozzle 22 is mounted to said descaler 20. A steel pipe 21 being a material to be inspected is passed through the piercing hole 12 from the descaler 20 and the flaw detection thereof is performed by the DC exciting coil 14 and the transmitting-receiving coil 15. Even if the steel pipe 21 has burr at this time, because said burr is contacted with the hardened layers 25, 26, no shaved waste is generated and scale is removed by high pressure water from the nozzle 22. Because the hardened layers 25, 26 are provided, the seizuring between the steel pipe and an electromagnetic ultrasonic measuring apparatus is prevented to make it possible to prolong the life of said apparatus.
