PURPOSE:To uniformly paint an article to be painted, by equalizing the number of paintings of a spray gun to the article to be painted at the time of movement to one direction with that of the spray gun at the time of movement to the other direction. CONSTITUTION:A movable member 30 having a spray gun 14 fixed thereto is moved right or left by the difference between air pressures of both sides due to a cylinder apparatus 12 and the speed thereof gradually increases after the start of movement and the speed curve thereof becomes almost symmetric left and right in both cases moving to the right direction and the left direction. The thickness of a paint film on an article to be painted becomes thinner at the fast speed part of the movable member 30 and becomes thicker at the slow speed part thereof. Therefore, if the movable member 30 is moved to the right direction at first to perform painting and succeedingly moved to the left direction without changing the up-and-down position thereof to perform painting and operated upwardly and downwardly at a predetermined interval to similarly repeat left and right movements for predetermined times, the entire surface of the article to be painted is uniformly painted.
