摘要 A device for reducing the MHD pressure drop in thick-walled channels through which a liquid metal flows and which are penetrated by a magnetic field at right angles to the direction of flow, e.g. in coolant channels of the blanket of a fusion reactor by using a thin metallic layer in the channel which is insulated with respect to the electrically conductive wall thereof. The aim of the invention is to avoid the disadvantages of the known sandwich-type insulating superstructures in the channel walls, but to ensure the known favourable MHD pressure drop characteristics by retaining the insulated metallic liner. It is proposed to construct the metallic layer together with the insulation as a push-in box (10) which can be pushed into the thick-walled flow channels to form an intermediate gap (14) with respect to the wall (6) thereof. The push-in box (10) is constructed with a sandwich-type wall which consists of an inner (11) and an outer (13) wall between which an insulating layer (12) is arranged. It is particularly advantageous in this arrangement that the insert can be produced less precisely, has more favourable stress characteristics in the event of temperature fluctuations and gives rise to a good insulating effect against thermal shock in the event of temperature fluctuations. <IMAGE>
