PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive body having high sensitivity characteristics and to improve photomemory resistance by using an polyvinyl acetal resin synthesized from polyvinyl alcohol and a specified ketone compound for an electrostatic charge generating layer. CONSTITUTION:The electrophotographic sensitive body has a charge transfer layer and the charge generating layer containing the polyvinyl acetal resin prepared by the acetal forming reaction of polyvinyl alcohol and the ketone compound represented by the formula shown on the right in which each of R1-R5 is H, halogen, optionally substituted alkyl, or such aryl. This resin has a number average molecular weight of, preferably, 10,000-200,000. The resin is effective so long as it has an acetal degree of >=50mol%. Since the binder resin of the charge generating layer must not hinder transfer of charge carriers generated in the layer, it is contained in an amount of 25-80wt% of the charge generating layer, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to have stable potential characteristics even during repeated uses. |
