PURPOSE:To solidify the whole quantity of P in a waste solvent and to reduce the volume of the solvent, by mixing the waste org. solvent based on organophosphoric ester generated in the retreatment of used nuclear fuel with specific chloride. CONSTITUTION:A waste organophosphoric ester compound is mixed with chlo ride of an element belonging to the Group III or IV, for example, aluminum chloride or zirconium chloride at ambient temp.-150 deg.C. At this time, the organophosphoric ester compound is reacted with chloride to be taken in a solid and part of said ester compound is decomposed to a combustible org. substance containing a low b.p. substance such as alkyl chloride, that is, hydrocarbonaceous org. component and the whole quantity of the phosphorus component is chemically immobilized in the solid. Next, this solid is calcined at about 200-400 deg.C and only the org. component such as the alkyl group in the solid is decomposed as org. combustible gas and burnt to be formed into a powdery solid which is, in turn, pelletized.
