The wax model to be reproduced is pressed into the lower part 1, containing self-curing embedding compound 3, of a two-part sintering mould, then the upper part 2, likewise filled with self-curing embedding compound, is placed on top, taken off after curing, fired together with the lower part and the wax is thereby removed. After cooling, both moulds are filled with an excess of a prepared ceramic compound after they have been previously moistened with the liquid, preferably high-percentage ethanol, used for preparing the ceramic compound. Firing is then carried out in vacuo, with the two parts of the mould being pressed against one another by mechanical pressure during firing and at least at the beginning of the cooling time. This process presses more ceramic material into the mould, always in the amount required to compensate for shrinkage during cooling and firing. The two parts 1 and 2 of the mould are preferably provided with projections and holes corresponding to one another, which are so arranged that the two parts can only be placed on top of one another in a very particular orientation relative to one another. <IMAGE>
