An applicator (Fig. 1) for applying lubricant in a flexible manner and under pressure onto the surface of a mechanical piece, which surface is harder than the lubricant material, said applicator having the form of a large or small cylindrical brush 26 and comprising a central base element 20 which extends through the brush and in which there are flexible nylon bristles 24. On the ends of the bristles are globules 22 consisting of a set resin material which contain particles of lubricant material, for example graphite or PTFE. It is possible to insert the applicator under pressure into, for example, a cylinder, and to make it rotate inside the cylinder in order to lubricate the inner wall.
