Electroerosion method and apparatus with movable wire in which the speed of supply of the cut is increased and decreased cyclically in a preset manner. In the first stage of the method, the supply of the cut takes place along a portion of a prescribed supply path at a maximum speed over a certain first extension in such a manner that the extension of the movable wire between the guide members curves backwards, thereby deflecting more than a certain degree of the straight-line path established between the guide members. In the second stage, the feed of the cut takes place along another portion of the feed path which immediately follows on from the first portion at a minimum speed and over a certain small extension, in such a manner that the curved extension of the movable wire enters into alignment with the straight-line advance path of the wire. A control unit is supplied which actuates a digital controller in order to repeat the two- stage cycle and which can also be used to act on the washer means supply device, a wire-tensioning device and an energy-supply device in order to minimize the period of time at reduced speed or the feed distance, simultaneously preserving, without material variation, the width of the groove or cut throughout the procedure.
