PURPOSE:To promote the automation of measuring of the dimension of a mold when it is opened and improve the productivity of the mold by a method wherein the dimension of the mold equipped with a spring therein is measured by utilizing a preliminary heating station employed before placing the mold on the device. CONSTITUTION:When a mold 15 is placed between a fixed piece 12 and a movable piece 14 and the movable piece 14 is moved to the left, the movable piece 14 switches an original point signal generator 20 and a counter starts counting. When a cylinder 13 is moved further to the left, a fixed mold 15A, a separate mold 15D and a moving mold 15B are contacted closely, thereafter, a heat medium or the like is applied for a given period of time. When the connection of a heat medium pipeline is released, the movable piece 14 is moved to the right and the opening of the mold 15 is finished, the left side surface of the movable piece 14 is separated from the mold 15 and an A-signal generator 16 is switched again and the count of a scale 17, which is effected by a detecting head 18 and the counter 21, is finished. The counter 21 adds the value of this count with a distance from the left side surface of the fixed piece 12 to the original point signal generator 20 whereby the thickness of the mold 15 when the mold is opened by a spring 15C may be measured. |
