Two shafts are mounted to pivot about two centres which lie on a central axis. A number of links are arranged in a manner which allows them to be displaced parallel to the central axis. Each link connects a point on one shaft to a point on the other shaft, the two points lying on different sides in positions offset by an angle about the central axis. These angular offsets are equal for all the links within a swivel-joint coupling. When one of the shafts vibrates, it pushes and pulls the links backwards and forwards in a straight line along the central axis in order, in turn, to transmit vibrating motion to the other shaft. If the two points of a link are offset by an angle of 0 or 180 degrees relative to one another about the central axis, the shafts always lie in one plane, otherwise they lie in different planes. All points which are arranged around a centre lie at equal point-to-centre distances from this centre. If the two point-to-centre distances are different from one another, the ratio of the two shaft deflection angles relative to the central axis about the respective centre is inversely proportional to the corresponding point-to-centre distances.
