In the method, relatively short tube rings (3) having a ratio of tube-ring length to tube-ring diameter of less than or equal to 0.30 are jacked. The tube rings (3) have removable spacers (7) which are arranged between them, are of lamellar construction and are subdivided into segments. In this arrangement, the thickness of the spacers is determined by the length of a tube ring (3) and the desired longitudinal deformability.
