Liq is introduced into a hollow body with identical outlets in a rotationally symmetrical pattern and contg an element which is at least partly in contact with the element and is moved up and down in a direction parallel the vertical axis. Pref body can be vibrated or rotated about its vertical axis by motor. Body and element are vibrated vertically at a frequency f which is related to the average flow rate. v m per sec, through the outlets and dia., d m, of an outlet where f is 0.25-0.5 v/d. The liq. feed tube is of ptfe and gauze screens are in the body and element. In an alternative form the body and element are of inverted truncated conical shape.
