PURPOSE:To perform a retrieval in the shortest time corresponding to an information recording medium, such as every kind of film in which the interval of mark is different by providing a speed change means which changes the migration speed of the information recording medium corresponding to the interval of the mark in the information recording medium. CONSTITUTION:An operator, by operating a mode change-over switch 49, can control a migration control circuit 48, and can set the feeding speed of a film. The film is fed with a set speed, and the mark at each frame of the film is detected at the first mark detector 21, and the second mark detector 22, and a count at a counter 42 is increased or decreased at every feeding of the frame. A count up or a count down is decided by a forward feed signal 51, or a backward feed signal 52. A frame number inputted from a keyboard 40 is compared with a count output at a comparison circuit 43, and when they are coincided, a film feeding is terminated. A feed direction is decided corresponding to the positive or the negative output of the comparison circuit 43.
