<p>Gas, in particular oxygen, storage process, by means of liquefaction, the gas first being compressed in a compressor (2), whereupon a part of the compressed gas being expanded stepwise in expansion turbines (11, 14) at atmospheric pressure to a temperature above the liquefaction temperature. The expanded gas is returned to the compressor (2) via heat exchangers (19, 18, 17, 13, 12, 9, 7) and used to cool the unexpanded compressed gas. The cooled compressed gas is expanded stepwise into separation vessels (20, 22, 27) and liquefied and the liquid gas part is fed into a pressure fluid storage container (24) or into an unpressurised fluid storage container (28). The delivery of compressed oxygen to a consumer is carried out by evaporation (33) of liquid compressed oxygen from the pressurised storage container (24) which can be fed from the unpressurised fluid storage container (28). Application of the process in an installation for obtaining and storage of gases, in particular oxygen, in which liquefaction is used for storage of the gas in the case of reduction of the compressed gas removal and/or as reserve for covering a peak demand or the demand in the event of the air separator (1) operating. <IMAGE></p> |
