In order to measure the distance from the following vehicle, a distance measuring device (1) is provided and a warning device (2) is provided to warn the driver of the vehicle behind. The output signal of the distance measuring device (1) and that of a speed sensor (15) are compared and if the distance is too small a light source (13) is activated in the warning device (2). By virtue of the measurement and warning issued to the rear, there are no disturbing incorrect indications to the driver of the measuring vehicle; the disturbance for the vehicle behind in the case of incorrect indications as a result of fixed obstacles is only slight. <IMAGE> |
