The ventilating appliance which is used, in particular, for ventilating interior rooms, has an elastomeric, bellows-like pumping cell (1) with an intake and a discharge valve (7 and 16, respectively). The lifting movement thereof is generated mechanically (9). The pumping cell takes the form of hose-shaped bellows (1). Alternatively, two pumping cells (1, 20) may be provided which are in effective connection with one another and can be actuated in opposition. The mechanical lifting-movement means are actuated hydraulically or pneumatically. The appliance is of extremely simple construction, and is therefore operationally reliable and foolproof. <IMAGE>
