PURPOSE:To protect an electrophotographic sensitive body from external harmful actions, such as mechanical abrasion and scratching, and to improve its cleanability by forming a protective layer containing an electron acceptor and/or electron donor, and roughening the surface of the protective layer. CONSTITUTION:The protective layer 8 containing an electron acceptor and/or electron donor is formed on a photosensitive layer 4 of a single layer structure containing a carrier generating material 6 and a carrier transfer material 7a, and the surface of the protective layer 8 is roughened to a roughness of 2/3-1/20 the average particle diameter. The holes of the carriers are rapidly transferred through the carrier transfer material 7a in the photosensitive layer 4 toward the side of a substrate 1, and the electrons of the carriers are transferred through the protective layer 8 by promotion of the electron acceptor and/or electron donor having a function of contributing to the transfer of electrons, thus permitting positive charge on the surface to be erased, high sensitivity characteristics to be exhibited, the contact area with the surfaces of the toner particles to be made slight, cleaning to be facilitated, consequently, the image quality of the photosensitive body to be enhanced, and its effective life to be extended. |
