PURPOSE:To attain a duplication under a lower deterioration state in a reproducing FM signal by providing a means which eliminates a time base fluctuation in a digital signal, a means which compensates the deterioration in the characteristic of a frequency modulation in a recording and reproducing system with a digital equalizer, and a D/A conversion means. CONSTITUTION:A signal reproduced with a reproducing head 12 is amplified at a reproducing amplifier 13, and is branched to two, and one through a phase delay apparatus 14, and the other through an LPF15, are supplied to a differential amplifier 16. The reproducing FM signal is compensated at an analog equalizer 17, and through an LPF18, it is supplied to an A/D converter 19, and the output of the A/D converter 19 is stored at a prescribed address in a TBC memory (time base correction memory) 20 with a write address generator 31. The output of the TBC memory 20, the reproducing FM signal of which is completely compensated with a digital equalizer 21, is converted to an analog reproducing Fm signal through a D/A converter 22 and an LPF23, and is amplified at an RF amplifier 24, then being supplied to an Fm modulator 25.
