摘要 PURPOSE:To improve head crush resistance and to obtain excellent S/N by using Al2O3 having angulated shapes as Al2O3 particles for reinforcing a coated film. CONSTITUTION:This disk medium is formed by preparing magnetic particles of gamma-Fe2O3 or Co-deposited gamma-Fe2O3 and Al2O3 having the annular flashes (projections) and 0.2-0.8mum average grain size as the Al2O3 particles to obtain the strength of he coated film in a manner as to have 0.5-5% volumetric content with respect to the volume of the coated film in the stage of forming the coated film after coating and baking as a magnetic coating compd., kneading and dispersing the same with a resin in a solvent, coating the soln. to a desired film thickness on the nonmagnetic substrate by a spin coating method and polishing the surface after baking. The surface of the coated film contg. the Al2O3 having the angular flashes has an extremely high self- cleaning effect on a head floating surface and therefore the content of the Al2O3 can be reduced to half the content in the conventional medium. As a result, the medium defects and medium noise depending on the content of the Al2O3 are decreased and the S/N is consequently improved. The coated film medium structure having the excellent durability of the coated film, head crush resistance and S/N is thus obtd.
