PURPOSE:To calculate the accurate startup waiting time of a heat fixing roller after power-on operation or in stand-by mode without reference to variance among machines and ambient temperature by calculating the waiting time corresponding to temperature variation at a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:The whole system of a copying machine consists of a micro-CPU 1 which executes a copying machine program, an address, data, and control bus 2, a ROM 3, a RAM 4,and an input/output port 5, and the ROM 3 stores a data table showing the relation among measured temperature, the quantity of variation in temperature, and the startup waiting time. The current temperature (e.g. 40 deg.C) of the heat fixing roller is stored in an address A of the RAM 4, temperature which is a prescribed time later is measured and stored in B, and the temperature difference B-A is calculated and stored in C. For example, when C=1.2deg, 369sec are obtained as the startup waiting time from the table and displayed on a display device. Then, the display contents are decreased by one second and displayed at intervals of one second until next measured temperature timing (e.g. 50 deg.C).
