PURPOSE:To attain the automatic transition from a data communication mode into a talking mode by adopting the constitution that a telephone line is connected from a communication means to a telephone means switchingly when a carrier detection section represents the stop of a carrier signal. CONSTITUTION:When the necessity of talking takes place to the reception side, i.e., an opposite party and the reception side hooks off a handset for the transition to talking, the data communication is interrupted by the reception side equipment, a control means 7 drives a network control means 6 to switch the telephone line to a telephone means 5. Thus, the carrier tone is lost from the line and the talking mode is selected. A carrier detection section 2 of the sender side equipment always detects the presence of the carrier signal on the telephone line and when the carrier signal is stopped, the carrier ON signal outputted to the control means 7 is stopped. When the carrier ON signal is stopped, the control means 7 judges it as the intermission of the data communication, drives a network control means 6 to connect the telephone means 5 to the telephone line. Then the sender equipment is transited to the talking mode via the telephone means 5.
