In order to convert a single glazing into a double glazing or vice versa, a frame profile (1) comprises two grooves (7, 7'), in which in each case a glass-holding profile (12) engages, glass-clamping profiles (21), which are inserted into these detachably, holding glass panes (25). The glass-holding profiles are of the same shape and inserted into the grooves in such a manner that in the case of single glazing the open groove (7') in the frame profile is covered. The glass-clamping profiles (21) can be detachably connected to the glass-holding profiles (12) by insertion-type assembly and can be locked by securing parts (15, 23). In the case of double glazing, the glass-holding profiles are arranged at a distance next to one another on the frame profile (1) to form an expansion joint (29) between the mutually facing vertical sides. <IMAGE>
