The device for quickly immobilising a limb has an air-impermeable sheath (1, 10) subdivided into a plurality of chambers (K1-K6; K7-K13) and filled with plastic grains (5), having a valve (9) for evacuation of air. The sheath (1) has a part-piece (3) for surrounding the affected limb and an adjacent part-piece (4) for surrounding part of the adjoining trunk. With such a device it is possible to immobilise a limb very rapidly by evacuation of air, such a device being easily transportable in a rolled-up state. A device of appropriate design also permits immobilisation of the whole body of an individual. <IMAGE>
