The cutter bar contains a bar leaf (1), a plurality of finger elements (4, 6) in two rows and a cutter spine (9) moving to and fro and having a plurality of cutter blades (8). An elastically flexible base (5) is installed between the bar leaf (1) and each leg (6') of the upper finger elements (6). The base (5) is retained by means of two screws (3) which pass through the upper (6) and the lower (4) finger elements and the bar leaf (1). By means of the lock nuts (7) screwed on the screws (3), the cutter-blade play is set or adjusted continuously, exactly and parallel to the cutter blade (8). <IMAGE>
