PURPOSE:To obtain a stable signal transmission between a magnetic recording and reproducing head and a magnetic tape by forming a spiral group which sucks in the air at the first half part where the tape coils round a fixed cylinder, and forming the spiral group which blows the air at the latter half. CONSTITUTION:A spiral group 13A is formed at the plane 503 of a fixed cylinder 5A facing with a rotary cylinder 2A at the first half part D where a tape- shaped recording medium 9 coils round the fixed cylinder 5A, and a spiral group 13B is formed at the latter half part E of the plane 503. The spiral group 13A is formed in a direction to suck in the air from an outside to the inside of a rotary head assembly when the rotary cylinder 2A is rotated, and the spiral group 13B is formed in the direction to blow off the air from the inside of the rotary head assembly to the outside.
