The machine has jointly driven filling stations for the filling of bags. Each filling station is assigned a shift coupling (29) which is controlled by a control (58). The filling takes place by means of a rotating metering worm (17), the number of revolutions of which determines the metering quantity. The number of revolutions is counted by a toothed disc (31) and a pulse counter (31'); by means of the control (58), the coupling (29) is shifted as a result of the release of the coupling (29a) and the drop-in of the brake (29b), with the result that the metering worm (17) is stopped. Arranged at the mouth (27) for the metering worm (17) is a closure (38) which initiates the metering operation only when the orifice (27) is opened. Because the number of revolutions of the metering worm (17) governing the filling quantity is measured individually for each filling station, a higher accuracy is achieved for the filling quantity. <IMAGE>
