PURPOSE:To quicken the processing speed of a reception sequential number deciding procedure by using no general-purpose register of a processor and using an internal register not designated by a program instruction in applying the packet reception sequence number decision means. CONSTITUTION:In applying the decision of the adequancy of the reception sequence number N(R) of a reception packet, data used for N(R) decision is loaded not on the general-purpose register of the processor but on the internal register not designated by a program instruction. The loaded data is used to control the N(R) decision by an arithmetic means. Thus, at the N(R) decision processing, the necessity of the saving of the general-purpose register group to a stack and the recovery from the stack is eliminated.
