NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (A is H, halogen, alkoxy, sulfonamide, residue of carboxylic ester, CN, NO2, CHO; B is H, alkoxy; Y is substituted or unsubstituted phenethyl) or its acid adduct. EXAMPLE:5-[3-[2-(3, 4-Dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]amino]propionyl-7, 8-dimetho xy-2, 3, 4, 5-tetrahydro-1, 5-benzothiazepin. USE:Hypotensor and antiarrhythmic. PREPARATION:i) The reaction of a compound of formula II with another compound of formula III (X is halogen), or ii) the reaction of the compound of formula II with a compound of formula IV is followed by reaction of the product with a compound of NH2-Y, or iii) the reaction of a compound of formula V with phthalimide is followed by reaction of the product of formula VI with a compound of X-Y to give the compound of formula I.
