PURPOSE:To obtain the titled highly stereoregular polymer low in a content of fine powder and almost free of catalyst residues stably in high activity, by polymerizing an alpha-olefin in the presence of a catalyst obtained from a specific solid catalyst component, an organoaluminum compound and an electron donor. CONSTITUTION:A solid catalyst component (A) is obtained by contacting a solid (a) obtained by allowing an inorganic double oxide containing at least one oxide or the like of an at least one element selected from among Group II-IV elements of the periodic table to support a magnesium alkoxide compound of the formula (wherein R<1-2> are each a 1-10 C alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl and t is 0-2) and, optionally, a fatty acid magnesium salt with an electron-donating compound (d) (e.g., diisobutyl phthalate) and a titanium halide (c) at 0-200 deg.C for 2min-24hr in a halohydrocarbon solvent (d). An alpha-olefin is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst obtained from component A, an organoaluminum compound (B) in an amount to provide an Al to Ti atomic ratio of 1-1,000 and an electron donor (C) (e.g., organosilicon compound) in an amount to provide a C to B molar ratio of 0.01-10. |
