PURPOSE:To obtain a pipe join having excellent mechanical properties of a weld zone by subjecting a stock which is plastically worked to a prescribed shape to a heat treatment in the state of restricting the deformation thereof by a restraining ring and subjecting the joint part to normal welding after the heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:The plate-shaped stock consisting of a stainless steel is subjected to plastic working such as pressing and bending to form a rough material for the pipe joint such as pipe, elbow or Tee. The restraining ring to prevent the deformation of the formed rough material is fitted onto said material and the material is subjected to tack welding if necessary. The rough material is subjected to a soln. heat treatment while the restraining ring is held mounted thereto; thereafter, the joint part is subjected to normal welding. The pipe or pipe joint having the excellent mechanical properties of the weld zone is thereby produced.
