PURPOSE:To eliminate draft effect upon heating, miniaturize a lower fan and make an airflow path switching damper unnecessary by a method wherein a device for controlling the ventilating capacity of the lower fan is provided in order to prevent the inflow and outflow of air through a lower blow-off port upon cooling. CONSTITUTION:An indoor unit 1 is provided with a suction port 3 as well as a heat exchanger 2 at the central part thereof, an upper blow-off port 5 so as to cope with an upper fan 4 and a lower blow-off port 7 so as to cope with a lower fan 10, however, the same unit 1 is not provided with a damper. The size of the lower fan 10 is made smaller than the same of the upper fan 4. A control device decides whether it is cooling or heating and either one of the output patterns Hi, Me, Lo of the set air speed of the fan is outputted in accordance with the set air speed when the decision is cooking while the ventilation of the indoor unit 1 is effected through only the upper blow-of port 5. When the decision is heating, either one of the output patterns Hi, Me, Lo is outputted in accordance with the set air speed in the same manner while the ventilation of the same is effected through the lower and upper blow-off ports 5, 7.
