PURPOSE:To dry the titled coking coal in an economical manner without the danger of explosion etc., by controlling the moisture content at the outlet of a rotary dryer fitted with a steam pipe through the use of high-temp. steam drain discharged from the dryer for preheating a carrier gas. CONSTITUTION:Wet coking coal 2 is continuously fed into a rotary dryer 1 fitted with a steam pipe having the transfer pipes accommodated therein, indirectly heated by passing low-pressure steam 8, and discharged as a moisture- regulated coal 3. On the other hand, an evaporated moisture formed by heating is discharged from the outlet of the dryer 1 with the passage of a carrier gas 4, and fed into a dry dust collector 5. In the collector, the coal dust contained in the gas 4 is collected, and the gas is discharged from a stack 7 through a blower 6 into the atmosphere. High-temp. drain 9 of 100-200 deg.C in temp. discharged from the steam 8 employed for indirect heating in the dryer 1 is fed into a carrier gas heat exchanger 11 while detecting the temp. of the gas 4 at the inlet of the dryer 1 with a thermometer T and controlling a control valve by means of an operating device 10 and a flow regulator FIC. In the exchanger, heat exchange is conducted between the drain and the gas 4.
