PURPOSE:To offset work rolls together with a roll frame unit and to simplify construction by providing the roll frame unit movably in the roll axial direction of a rolling mill and providing an offset device for the roll frame unit. CONSTITUTION:The small-diameter work rolls 5 are housed into the frame 1 to constitute the roll frame unit 6 which is then incorporated into a multi-stage sheet rolling mill. The distance L between journal boxes 3 and 4 of the small- diameter work rolls is made short to increase the strength thereof. The offset of the small-diameter work rolls 5 is executed via the frame 1 by cylinders 24, 25 provided to a slide beam 11, by which the installation positions of the cylinders 24, 25 are selected regardless of the positions of the boxes 3, 4. The optional change of the positions of the cylinders 24, 25 is thus made possible and the restriction on the layout is decreased. |
