PURPOSE:To provide a monoazo dye mixture which is red and has excellent dispersion stability even when polyester fibers, etc., are dyed under high- temperature and severe conditions, having a specified crystalline modification. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of diazo components of formulas I and II is diazotized. The resulting diazotized mixture is coupled with a coupling component of formula III in an aq. medium at 0-15 deg.C for 30min to 10hr to obtain a mixture of monoazo compds. having a beta modification, composed of 70-30wt% monoazo compd. and 30-70wt% monoazo compd. The mixture is dispersed in an aq. medium in the presence of optionally a dispersant such as a concentrate of a sulfite pulp waste liquor mainly composed of a condensate of formaldehyde with naphthalenesulfonic acid and sodium liqunosulfonate and the dispersion is stirred at 60-130 deg.C for 0.5-30hr to obtain a mixture of monoazo dyes of formulas IV and V, having a beta modification characterized by an X-ray diffraction pattern (CuKalpha) with a very intense peak at an angle (2<theta>) of diffraction and four intense peaks at an angle (2<theta>) of diffraction of about 3.1 deg., 14.2 deg., 18.7 deg. and 22.3 deg..
