PURPOSE:To prevent a back-fire and clarify discharged gas by a method wherein a flame forming area is changed over according to an amount of combustion. CONSTITUTION:When a specified time has elapsed after heating operation of a heater 2, a fuel pump 10 is driven. Fuel is injected into a gasification chamber 4 from a nozzle 8 together with air fed from an air flaw passage 6, heated at a wall surface, passed through a metering part of a mixing plate 3 and a mixing chamber A17 or B17' and promotes a mixing operation with the air, passes through a first and third flame holes 12 and 12' and then flows out of a second and fourth flame holes 13 and 13'. At this time, if the mixture is ignited, a flame is formed at combustion portions A14 and B14' to perform a stable combustion. An input control of a solenoid 21 is performed by either a sensing of a chamber temperature or an input, a plunger 20 and a damper 23 are moved up and down, an aeration port 16 is opened or closed, and an area at the combustion part 15 is changed over between to the entire upper and lower area or only a lower area. In the case of a high combustion load, it is possible to reduce an amount of heat received and a heat receiving surface by means of a formation of injecting flow flame at the combustion part A14 and therefore to provide both prevention of a back-fire and a clarification of discharged gas under a restriction of a flame temperature.
