PURPOSE:To improve a rate of utilization of heat and enable an item of which combustion is hard to be processed by a method wherein an air feeder pipe having several branch pipes projected therefrom is arranged within a rotary cylinder in parallel with the cylinder and pipe ends of the branch pipes are opened near a central part of a material holding part within the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A material 12 to be burnt is fed into a rotary cylinder 1 and air is fed into an air feeding pipe 3 while the rotary cylinder is being rotated. Air is injected from injection holes 5 of branch pipes 4 to locations near the central part of the material 12 to form some clearances in the material and at the same time the branch pipes 4 may agitate the material 12. Under this condition, fire of the burner 6 burn the material 12, so that the material is subjected to a complete combustion. In this way, it is possible to improve a rate of utilization of heat and to process the material of which combustion is hard.
