PURPOSE:To achieve a low cost, by providing a cover layer, a mixture of a carbonate of a specified metal and alumina to achieve an improved adhesivity to zirconia and a better matching with a non-covered product. CONSTITUTION:As carbonate of metal, an oxide is formed by decomposition at a high temperature and the oxide thus formed is solidly solved into zirconia to stabilize it while being allowed to react with alumina to form a compound. For example, a carbonate of Ca and/or Mg is used. The alumina is preferably 0.1-40mum in a particle size. When a cover layer, a mixture of the products, is formed on a zirconia sintered body or the like, an inexpensive oxygen sensor is obtained with a better adhesivity to the zirconia and a better matching with a non-covered product. |
