PURPOSE:To eliminate the waste of time and materials by stopping an image forming operation by an emergency stop signal inputted at an optional time even though image formation is not completed. CONSTITUTION:If the emergency stop signal is inputted from an emergency stop key at a time X on the way of blue exposure and yellow development after a start time (a), a control part 10 performs the emergency stop operation in accordance with a preliminarily determined program. That is, electrification is stopped simultaneously with input of the emergency stop signal, and following exposure and development are stopped, and after a time (t), a destaticizing electrode 8 and a cleaning device 9 are operated at a time (l) and a time (m) respectively to start removing an already stuck toner when the front end of a developed yellow toner image reaches a position facing the destaticizing electrode 8, and a photosensitive drum is rotated once to complete cleaning all of the surface and is stopped at a time X', when it is returned to the start position, and is in the restartable position. The destaticizing electrode 8 and the cleaning device 9 are stopped at a time l' and a time m' when destaticization and cleaning are terminated respectively. |
