PURPOSE:To reduce a pumping loss, by installing an escape passage, letting an air-fuel mixture inside each operating chamber during respective compression strokes of #1-#3 cylinders escape to each operating chamber during a suction stroke of other cylinders via a control valve, in a casing. CONSTITUTION:Escape passages 21-23, letting an air-fuel mixture at respective compression strokes of each of cylinders 5-7 escape to an operating chamber during suction strokes of other cylinders by rotation of rotors 8-10 having a 120 deg. phase difference each, are installed in a casing 1. The escape passage 23, letting the mixture in at least the #3 cylinder 7 off, makes its mixture out flow side and open to a suction port 16, and control valves 24-26, controlling an airflow quantity according to engine load, are installed in each escape pas sage side by side. Thus, a pumping loss is reduced and an adjustment for a charged variable is performed in an effective manner, especially exhaust of an excess air-fuel mixture during a compression stroke in the #3 cylinder is performable without installing a passage at the outside of the casing, thus layout capabilities are improved.
