PURPOSE:To temporarily reserve bank notes through utilization of the bank note containing space of a bank note containing part, by a method wherein a temporary reserving space is formed in the upper area of the containing space by means of a partitioning material. CONSTITUTION:By charging depositing bank notes P in a space part 27 of a bank note charge port 6 for customer in one lot, the side edge in the direction of width of the note is placed by guide plates 27B and 27B' in a state that the edge is positioned more inwardly in the direction of width of the note than a flange part, and is moved to a transferring part 35 through rotation of belts 24 and 25. Thereafter, the notes pass one by one through a route, shown by a solid line, and are conveyed to containing parts 34, 35, and 36 classified by a kind of the note and a first containing part 31 by means of a delivery means 38, and are temporarily reserved on partition materials 3c, 3c.... When confirmation is made by a customer, the notes are transferred to support tables 3B, 3B..., and lowering of the notes to a variable set position causes temporary containing of the notes.
