PURPOSE:To control tracking in a fixed state and to reproduce data by correcting data in such a way that only signal data reproduced from a recording track preset in accordance with the travel speed of a magnetic tape becomes effective. CONSTITUTION:Data recorded on the track of the magnetic tape 10 is alternately scanned and reproduced by heads 8 and 9. The data is transmitted to a demodulator circuit 11 through a selector 23, further transmitted to a memory write circuit 12 and error-corrected by an error correction circuit 13. When the heads 8 and 9 scan the tape 10 in a reproduction state at a speed different from a recording speed, the selector 23 selects one group of the demodulated data of the same series during the rotational period of a cylinder, and selects a signal from an error generator circuit 24 in other hourly areas. At that time a tracking signal generator circuit 21 selects only the control signal of an inner head for the reproduced data, and controls a tape travel adjusting circuit 18. Thus the tracking control is executed in a fixed state, thereby attaining a recognizable reproduction. |
