PURPOSE:To permit a stay to move smoothly, by constructing a hollow insert main body, which is provided with a stay movably, from respective upper and lower half bodies and forming holding portions of stay locking members at prescribed confronting portions of both the half bodies. CONSTITUTION:A head rest insert is divided into upper and lower portions and comprises an insert main body 10 having respective upper and lower half bodies 20, 30, a head rest stay 40 and a stay locking member 50. The lower half body 20 has an upwardly opening substantially box-shaped outer shell 21 having a pair of stay insert pipes 22 in it as its integral portion, the upper end 24 of the insert pipe being provided with a half portion 25c of a holding portion 25 of the stay locking member 50 such as a clip and the like, and the half portion 25c being formed as a concave portion wherein an elastic leg of the clip 50 can be widened. On the other hand, the upper half body 30 has a downwardly opening box-shaped outer shell 31 provided with contact portions 32 each having an end to be abutted against the inserting pipe 24 as its integral portion and the holding portion 25 is formed between the contact portion 32 and the upper end of 24 of the insert pipe.
