PURPOSE:To reduce the operating load of an operator by judging the stop instruction timing for reproduction of voices from the document input state or the internal processing state for KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese characters) conversion, etc. and stopping temporarily the reproducing action by the instruction signal. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 10 performs the overall control of a document processor as well as various types of document processing including the KANA/KANJI conversion. A voice reproducer 20 receives the reproduction start signal from the CPU 10 to carry out reproduction and interrupts the reproduction after receiving the reproduction stop signal. The reproduction stop signal is delivered when a reproduction stop mode set with combination of specific keys of an input part 11 is coincident with the 1st reproduction stop mode and when the KANA/KANJI reproduction is through with the character string stored in an input buffer 15. Then said reproduction stop signal is also delivered when a 'conversion' key is operated for indication of the KANA/KANJI conversion in the 2nd reproduction stop mode.
