PURPOSE:To easily produce pulverized metallic powder of micron order by blowing a high-pressure gas to a molten metal to make the primary atomization of said metal then bringing the molten metal to collide against a cup-shaped rotary plate which has a liquid film on the surface and rotates at a high speed to make the secondary atomization thereof. CONSTITUTION:A metal or alloy is melted in a crucible 6 having a heater 5 and molten metal 9 thereof is ejected from a nozzle 7 of the crucible 6. An inert gas such as Ar or N2 is blown at >=30 deg. angle from a nozzle 10 under a high pressure to such ejected metal, by which the molten metal is subjected to the primary atomization. The molten metal subjected to the primary atomization is brought into collision against the cup-shaped high-speed rotary plate 2 which has the liquid film 4 of an inert liquid of fluorine, etc. having 0.01mm thickness, rotates at a high speed of 6,000npm and has >=50 deg. opening angle theta, by which the molten metal is subjected to the secondary atomization. The resultant pulverized metallic powder of micron order and liquid for liquid film are put into a lower vessel 11. The liquid is filtered off by a filter 12 and the gaseous Ar, etc. are recovered by a compressor 17. The pulverized metallic powder of micron order is thus recovered in the vessel 11.
