PURPOSE:To obtain a composite wire having a uniform vapor-deposited metallic layer by rotating a crucible as a metal evaporating source to press a molten metal in the crucible against the side wall of the crucible, feeding a core material along the axis of rotation and carrying out vapor deposition. CONSTITUTION:A crucible 1 as a metal evaporating source is rotated on the axis of rotation to press a molten metal 2 in the crucible 1 against the side wall of the crucible 1. A core material 4 is then fed along the axis of rotation and the metal 2 is vapor-deposited on the core material 4.
