PURPOSE:To attain an accurate timing and simplify the circuit of a control means of the whole of a device and software by detecting the presence or the absence of a transfer paper to turn on or off a high voltage power source. CONSTITUTION:A visible image on a photosensitive body 1 and a transfer paper 2 are brought closely into contact with each other and corona discharge is applied from the rear face of the transfer paper 2 to transfer the visible image to the transfer paper 2. A transfer output 6 of a transfer and separating high voltage power source 4 is connected to a transfer and separating charger 3 and the transfer output 6 is turned on and off by the signal from a transfer paper detector 5 to perform this corona discharge. A separating output 7 is turned on and off similarly. The detector 5 consists of an LED 5a and a photo transistor 5b, and the detector 5 generates a signal when the transfer paper 2 intercepts light.
