METHOD FOR CATALYZING SURFACE OF BODY TO BE ELECTROLESS-PLATED

PURPOSE:To make pretreatment for electroless plating unnecessary by exposing a molding tool to gaseous PdCl2 to form a thin PdCl2 layer on the surface of the tool and by transferring the PdCl2 layer from the tool to the surface of a molded product to catalyze the surface of the body to be electroless-plated. CONSTITUTION:PdCl2 is sublimed under atmospheric pressure and a molding tool is exposed to the resulting gaseous PdCl2 to form a thin PdCl2 layer on the surface of the tool. The PdCl2 layer is transferred from the tool to the surface of a molded product by molding with the tool to catalyze the surface of the body to be electroless-plated.
