PURPOSE:To provide a novel polymer having excellent transparency, heat- resistance, weather-resistance and moldability, useful in the field of short-range optical communication, photo-sensor, etc., and composed of a specific methacrylimide structural unit, a structural unit derived from a vinyl monomer, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer is derived from (A) 2-100(wt)% methacrylimide structural unit of formula I (R is H or 1-20C hydrocarbon group), (B) 98-0% structural unit which can be derived from a halogenated alkyl methacrylate except for fluoroalkyl methacrylate [e.g. the structural unit of formula II or III (X is Cl, Br or I; l is 1 or 2; m, n, q and p are 0-10; Z is H or X), etc.] and (C) 0-50% vinyl monomer (e.g. methacrylic acid, styrene, etc). copolymerizable with the halogenated alkyl methacrylate monomer of the component B. |
