PURPOSE:To focus a camera accurately by performing the arithmetic processing of signals from preliminarily determined blocks of a light receiving part individually and selecting information coinciding with a focus reference. CONSTITUTION:A light receiving part 2 includes an optical sensor, an integrating function, a shift register, etc., and plural pairs of photodetectors are arranged in a line transversely in the sensor, and outputs of them are converted by an A/D converter 3 and are subjected to the arithmetic processing by a means 4 to drive a distance ring driving motor 6. The arithmetic processing part processes individually input signals from segmented partial blocks A1, A2... to obtain distance measured information and selects information of the closest distance, the middle distance, and the farthest distance on a basis of the focus reference and drives a focusing ring to focus the camera. It is possible that the focus reference is programmed to select one of the closest distance, the middle distance, and the farthest distance, and a selecting switch may be provided on the camera body. By this constitution, the out-of-focus state which occurs for a wide light receiving area is prevented effectively and the camera is always accurately focused independently of the use mode. |
